Fall Skincare Reset: How to Nourish Your Skin as the Seasons Shift

I can feel it coming when the days start getting shorter. The air gets crisper, the light changes, and suddenly there’s a chill in the morning — right around the time Starbucks drops the PSL. Fall is here, and my skin always knows it before I do.
This is when I reach for richer, slower skincare — tallow, olive oil, castor oil — the kind of ingredients that actually feed the skin and help it thrive through the seasonal shift.
What Happens to Your Skin in Fall?
Cooler temps + dry air + indoor heating = the perfect storm for parched, stressed-out skin.
In the fall, your skin goes through some big changes:
Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) increases — you lose moisture faster.
Sebum production slows — your skin doesn’t make as much natural oil.
Barrier function weakens — leading to redness, flakiness, and breakouts.
If you’re suddenly dry, dull, or sensitive, your skin isn’t freaking out — it’s adapting. And it needs support.
Why I Always Reach for Tallow This Time of Year
Organic, grass-fed & finished tallow is the foundation of every Lineage whip and balm — and it’s an absolute skin-saver in fall.
Unlike many plant oils that sit on the skin or oxidize quickly, tallow mimics human sebum, making it deeply absorbable and non-comedogenic.
Why Tallow Works:
•Rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K
•Helps rebuild the skin barrier
•Contains CLA (anti-inflammatory + antimicrobial)
•Creates a breathable, nourishing seal
Paired with olive oil, castor oil, and essential oils in my formulas, it becomes your skin’s best friend when the weather turns dry.
How to Shift Your Skincare for Fall (And What I Use)
Here’s exactly how I adjust my routine this time of year — and why it works.
1. Switch from Lotion to Balm or Whip
Light, water-based lotions just don’t hold up when the air gets dry and cold. Your skin needs something that seals in moisture and supports your barrier — not something that evaporates in ten minutes.
👉 Try:
Rosé Tallow Whip – calming, floral, and perfect for sensitive or reactive skin
Ember Tallow Whip – richer and more grounding, ideal for nighttime or extra-dry areas
2. Add an Oil Under Your Balm
This is one of my favourite cold-weather tricks. Apply a few drops of oil to damp skin, then follow with a balm or whip. The oil nourishes, the balm seals — it’s a moisture sandwich your skin will thank you for.
👉 Try:
Ever Gold Rejuvenating Oil – with castor, rosehip, and jojoba to deeply repair and protect
3. Keep SPF in Your Routine
Just because it’s cooler doesn’t mean you’re off the hook — UVA rays (the ones that age skin and damage collagen) are still going strong. Daily SPF is still essential, especially on the face and hands.
👉 Try:
Glimmer Tinted SPF Balm – non-nano zinc, raspberry seed oil, and a natural sheer tint for that healthy fall glow
4. Stop Overwashing
If your skin’s feeling dry or tight, your cleanser might be part of the problem. Over-cleansing strips natural oils and damages your moisture barrier — which makes fall skin freak out even more.
👉 Try:
Sweet Citrus Oil Cleanser – gentle, nourishing, and actually helps balance your skin instead of stripping it
My Fall Skincare Ritual (Simple + Effective)
Morning:
•Spritz of rose or chamomile hydrosol
•2–3 drops of Ever Gold Oil
•Swipe of Glimmer Balm on cheeks + lips
•Touch of Rosé Whip on neck, chest, and hands
Evening:
•Oil cleanse with Sweet Citrus
•Warm washcloth steam
•Ember Whip to seal everything in
Every year, fall reminds me to slow down and take care in a different way — with food, with rest, and with what I put on my skin.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. Just thoughtful. Just real.
Love,
Lia
