Rooted in the Island: How Vancouver Island Shaped Lineage Natural Cosmetics

Where It All Began
I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, in a small coastal community called Metchosin. My parents still have a little chicken farm tucked between the trees and the sea — the kind of place where mornings smell like cedar and hay, and you learn early that everything good takes time.
That way of life — simple, connected, intentional — shaped everything I’ve built.
It’s what inspired Lineage Natural Cosmetics: a Vancouver Island skincare brand rooted in family, land, and the slow rhythm of Island living.
The Island Influence
Growing up surrounded by nature taught me to notice details — the texture of moss, the way bees hover between wildflowers, the way fresh air feels on clean skin. I wanted to create something that carried that same energy — pure, unhurried, and alive.
Lineage was never meant to compete with commercial skincare. It was born from the desire to return to real, nutrient-dense ingredients — the kind our skin recognizes because they come from the same biology as we do.
Locally Sourced, Naturally Made
Every product begins here on Vancouver Island.
Our grass-fed and finished tallow comes from local farms that care for their animals and the land. What used to be a forgotten by-product is now transformed into something deeply nourishing — skincare that feeds your skin the way nature intended.
Our beeswax comes from Island apiaries where bees pollinate fields and forests, carrying the scent of wildflowers into every block of wax.
The oils we use — organic olive, jojoba, and coconut — are chosen with care and often sourced through small Canadian suppliers who share our values.
Each ingredient has a story and a connection. Nothing about Lineage is anonymous.
Why Local Matters
Supporting local is more than a choice — it’s a philosophy.
By keeping our ingredients close to home, we ensure freshness, reduce waste, and strengthen the small-scale ecosystem that sustains the Island.
When you buy a jar of Lineage, you’re supporting the farms, the bees, the makers, and the rhythms of a community that believes in quality over convenience.
This is slow beauty — tallow skincare made with respect for time, place, and purpose.
Handcrafted on the Coast
Every balm, whip, and bar of soap is made by hand, in small batches, right here on the coast. There’s no assembly line, no shortcuts — just intentional sourcing and craftsmanship from start to finish.
We render the tallow slowly, whip it until it’s airy and smooth, and pour each batch with care. Every jar carries the energy of the Island — wild, grounded, and full of life.
The Vancouver Island Glow
When people ask what gives Lineage its signature glow, I always say: it’s the Island.
It’s in the soil that grows our food, the farms that raise our animals, and the slow, steady way of living that values authenticity over perfection.
Lineage is my love letter to this place — to Metchosin, to the land that raised me, and to everyone who still believes that what’s real will always be enough.
Because the glow you see on the outside begins with what’s rooted within.
I’m endlessly grateful for this Island, for the people who support small and local, and for the chance to share a little piece of home with you.
Love, Lia
